IN LATVIA!

A couple of years ago, out of the blue, I got a Skype message from a stranger in Latvia going by the screen name of "Birdy". Turns out, he'd seen done a name Skype search on "kitesurfer" and my screen name of "kitesurfer2099" turned up. We traded a few messages, comparing notes of what kitesurfing was like in our respective countries. After I sent a picture of one of our favourite spots at Hawks Nest, I expected he'd reply saying it was the most beautiful spot he'd ever seen. Instead, his reply was: "Yeah, looks just like where we go kitesurfing in Latvia". Ho hum. I thought: "Right" He's having me on. So I asked for a photo. Lo and behold, it DID look like Hawks Nest! BIG surprise. We traded more photos. So, time passed and we continued to trade messages and photos and have since become quite good friends and I've got a heap of photos from Latvia. In December we had a big party at my place and Birdy had a few friends over to his place and we hooked up a web cam and they watched the party over Skype. How cool. Birdy keeps sending photos and hey, it turns out they do a lot of the same crazy stuff besides kitesurfing that we do. So, I figured why not share the photos with everyone on the site. Soooo, here ya go! Latvia! These guys are seriously hardcore. You think we have it tough in winter here. How about -35C icekiting and 2-3C in freshly melted ice in a dry suit in springtime? Oh, and did I tell you about the girls? Whoa. Keep scrolling down.
